Doc Caleb and I just finished screening the first Doctor story, ‘Reign of Terror’. ‘Reign of Terror’ uses the revolutionary technique of creating animated episodes to re-enact the missing episodes of Doctor Who.
This is not the first time that the folks at the BBC have used this technique. However, the success of this system has led the team over their to do more of this.
This is a one-on-one with the lead animator of the story. It’s a fascinating tale.
I wasn’t expecting much from the animation, based on the few preview scenes I saw on the Internet. However, I found that this technique was a real positive and helps us retrieve a part of the history of this venerable series.
I do find it remarkable that Doc Caleb has more Doctor Who accessible for him to view than I ever did in my teens or early twenties.
Interesting! I probably would’ve enjoyed this serial more if I had seen the animated versions. The audio-only experience was a bit lacking.
The animation is a nice feature. You might want to check it out. It was only released in late February, so purchasing it is about your only source to get it.
