Caleb's Journal of the Grand Watching of Doctor Who

The Dalek Invasion of Earth

Dalek Invasion of EarthOriginal Air Date:  21 November – 26 December 1964

Number of Episodes:  6

Rating:  4 of 4 Stars

Plot Summary:

The TARDIS returns to London; however it’s the 22nd century. With bodies in the river, and quiet in the docklands, the city is a very different place. The Daleks have invaded and it’s up to the Doctor to thwart them once again…

Doctor Caleb’s Review:

I liked the story because the Daleks have found a way to adapt to earth by putting disks on the backs of their suit witch allows them to go on non-metal surfaces.  I also liked the story because it shows the Dalek’s main intention, to take over the universe.  Another reason I liked the story is because the Doctor gets classic moments like when the Doctor loses Susan.  Finally, I liked the story because it showed each character one at a time instead of all together.

Eggstirmen8’s Review:

This is an iconic story and really shows the beginning of the evolution of the Daleks as the quintessential Doctor Who baddie.  When the Doctor locks Susan out of the TARDIS, it really pulls at your heart strings a bit.  London is featured in wonderfully creative ways throughout this story.  I watched the cinematic version of this story years ago, but may need to rewatch it now that I’ve seen the original article.
